A Healthy Legacy

Yesterday I had the honor of speaking to a group of men about health and nutrition.  Often when we think of legacy we think of material things or money,in my opinion, the best gift you can leave your family is the gift of life.  Making healthy choices as a family sets the foundation for a healthy future.

Here are 3 simple things you can do to enhance your family's lifestyle.  Commit to a family legacy of good health. The future of our children depends on it.

Walking

Walking is great cardiovascular exercise for the family and an opportunity to teach your family skills that will keep them fit and healthy for life.

Water

Water is ESSENTIAL. It accounts for approximately 60% of one's body weight and is needed to keep all parts of the body functioning properly.  Make water easily acessible, create fruity water as a family, bring it with you in a water bottle on outings, and by all means, drink up!

Rest

Children need good, sound sleep to ensure proper body and mind development.  Insufficient sleep is associated with a number of chronic illnesses—such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, obesity, and depression.  The best way to teach your child the importance of rest is by example.
